For the first time in over forty years, the YMCA has re-branded itself complete with new logo and mission, to become the premeir cause-driven organization focused on building healthy kids and communities.

As part of the re-branding, both Miami County YMCA branches in Piqua and Troy follow suit with the re-branding, as it will be full rolled out in the coming weeks.

While the name and logo may have changed, the services and facilities offered across the country have not changed, nor is existing membership affected. Yet, for many, it is the sign of the times, as the organization, once made popular in the famous disco song of the same name, reflects the current issues of obesity and community cohesiveness in a time of openness and acceptance across all races and religions.

Yet, despite the noble reasoning behind the change, one particular comedian couldn't help but comment through his twitter account, stating "@ConanOBrien: The YMCA has officially shortened it's name to "The Y". You know times are tough when letters are even getting laid off."
