The National Arbor Day Foundation sponsors an annual poster contest for Fifth Graders. This year’s L.T. Ball Intermediate had 58 students (4 teachers) participate. The theme this year was “Trees are Terrific… and Energy Wise”.  The students had lessons in the wonderful benefits that trees offer our lives and surroundings.

The winning poster selected by the City Tree Board was entered into the state contest.  This year’s First Place winner was Ryan Koogler.  The following students also received recognition: Steven Bourne-2nd Place, Angelo Mihalyo-3rd Place, and Honorable Mentions to Abbi Halsey, Brooke Zimmerman, Wesley Koehler, and Kennedy Reeder.

Ryan Koogler’s poster was forwarded onto the State competition and he was awarded Third Place. Ryan was recognized at an assembly on March 22, 2010 with a certificate and cash award. Mayor Dee Gillis presented the awards.
