Bruins Rally In 3rd, Take 1st Place 09/20/2009
Wooster, Ohio - The Troy Bruins improved to a perfect 3-0-0 in NJHL action with a thrilling come from behind victory over in-state rival Wooster Oilers on Saturday night. After a scoreless first period, offense flourished in the middle frame, with Bruins veteran forward #8 Josh Tucker once again leading the charge, scoring the first two Troy goals. Tucker would add a pair in the third, securing his second hat trick this season. In the third, physicality escalated, and the Bruins found themselves in the penalty box on several occasions; and as a result, Wooster would pull away with a 6-3 lead at the midway mark of the third period. Yet, despite the deficit, the Bruins battled back and tied the score thanks to the two Tucker goals and a tying score from #2 Sean Hagerty, before captain Lee McClure lit the red lamp for what would eventually become the game-winner. With a perfect 3-0-0 record, the Bruins are now in sole possession of first place, and are the only remaining undefeated team in the NJHL. Wooster, who celebrated their home opener Saturday night, and who was unbeaten coming into the weekend, now drops their record to 2-1-0.
