Bruins Fall To Ulysse On Sunday 10/13/2009
Troy, OH- For the second consecutive night, the Troy Bruins battled hard but fell to a high-charged Team Ulysse on Sunday afternoon in Hobart Arena by a final score of 10-4. In similar fashion to Saturday night, Ulysse came out high charged in the first period, scoring the game's first goal at the 3:11 mark, then added to it just over a minute later to take an early 2-0 lead. Troy regrouped while facing the early deficit, and #22 Derek McPherson was able to capitalize off of a #9 Justing Laconte pass at the 7:02 mark to cut the Ulysse lead to one. Rejuvenated with the goal, the Bruins accumulated several chances in front of Ulysse netminder Etienne Marcoux, yet were unable to muster any further goals in the period. Ulysse extended their lead in the first with their third goal in the second half of the period to take a 3-1 lead into the dressing room after twenty minutes. Shots on goal in the first favored Ulysse 16-8. After a breather during the intermission, Troy took control of the momentum from the opening faceoff to start the second period, and cut the lead just :18 in, thanks to #19 Aaron Huber's K's Hamburger Shop power play goal from a #15 Lee McClure assist. Yet, not less than a minute later, Ulysse found the back of the net once more, extending their lead to 4-2. Neither team would be able to light the lamp until the midway point of the period, with Troy's captain Lee McClure notching an unassisted K's power play goal himself at 8:09 go bring the game to within one. Ulysse answered back with two additional power play goals to close out the second period. After forty minutes, Ulysse led 6-3, with the Bruins out shooting Ulysse in the second 17-15. The third period would not be kind to the Bruins, with Ulysse scoring three unanswered goals before the midway point, before Troy added their final tally of the afternoon at the 14:32 mark, with #8 Josh Tucker connecting with McPherson. The final point of the game came courtesy of Ulysse at the 15:44 mark of the third to extend the lead to the eventual final score of 10-4. Shots in the third once again favored Troy, with the game total deadlocked 37-37. Looking ahead, the Bruins carry their record of 6-4-0 into Indiana Pennsylvania for a weekend series against the Indiana Inferno on Saturday and Sunday, before returning home to the comfy confines of Hobart Arena to host the Adirondack Predators on Saturday, October 24 and Sunday, October 25.
