STEPHANIE A. WILCOX WAGNER 


Stephanie A. Wilcox Wagner, 52, of 1103 Nicklin Ave., Piqua died at 3:00 pm Monday, April 26, 2010 at the Upper Valley Medical Center while in a state of Diabetic Coma, a disease she battled for forty-eight years.  She was born June 26, 1957 in Troy to Richard G. and M. Lois (Johnson) Wilcox of Piqua. 


In addition to her parents she is survived by two brothers, Eric (Connie) Wilcox of Xenia, Steven Wilcox of Piqua; a nephew, Chad (Jessie) Wilcox; two nieces, Megan and Hannah Wilcox; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.  Her beloved poodle “Tobie” preceded her in death along with many other relatives. 


Stephanie was a 1975 graduate of Piqua Central High School and obtained her Associates degree from Edison State College in 1977.  She enjoyed counted cross-stitch, reading books from the Piqua Library, and collecting ceramic angels.  


A celebration of her life will be conducted at 7:00 pm Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home with Rev. Jack Chalk officiating.  Her family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 pm Wednesday.  Private burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Diabetes Association, 2555 S. DEVIBEN J. SHAH 


Deviben J. Shah, of Piqua, passed away peacefully at 8:45 pm Wednesday April 28, 2010 surrounded by her family.  She was born October 11, 1924 in Gujarat, India to the late Hargovinddas and Kashiben H. (Mahant) Mahant.  She married Jayantilal K. Shah April 18, 1942 in India; he survives.  They enjoyed celebrating their 68th wedding anniversary this month.  They are members of the Jain Center of Cincinnati and Dayton. 


Other survivors include her children, Gita Pancholy of Troy, Damaroo (Jyoti) Shah of Piqua, Neki (Pankaj) Shah of Clearwater, Fla., Mayank (Alka) Shah of Piqua; grandchildren, Sona, Niti, Maulik, Soha, Manisha (Hiral), Pari, Ruchi (Mitel), Paras, Beej, Sameep; and great grandchildren, Roshan and Nayan.  She was preceded in death by a sister.  


Prayer services will begin at 2:00 Saturday May 1, 2010 in the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home with cremation to follow.  As Mrs. Shah was a woman dedicated to community service, her family believes that in lieu of flowers, Deviben would prefer a donation to a charity of your choice.  Condolences to the family may also be expressed through www.jamiesonandyannucci.com.

JAMES E. HUELSKAMP 


James E. Huelskamp, 60, of 4688 W. Demming Rd., Piqua, died Saturday, April 24, 2010 in Piqua.  He was born June 28, 1949 in Sidney to Carol (Place) Huelskamp of Sidney and the late Eugene J. Huelskamp.  He married Cynthia L. Mumaw November 13, 1987 in Troy; and she survives. 


Other survivors include four children, Jackie (Sam) Grise, Jerry (Andrea) Huelskamp, Jenni (Matt) Spangler and Andrew E. Huelskamp all of Piqua; sixteen grandchildren; two sisters, Diana (Bob) Kleinfelder, Janice (Fred) Favors all of Sidney; and seven brothers, Charlie (Becky) Huelskamp, Mike (Sherri) Huelskamp, Steve (Jae) Huelskamp, Bill (Julie) Huelskamp, John (Pam) Huelskamp, Dick (Denise) Huelskamp all of Sidney, and Gene (Bea) Huelskamp of Anna. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Abigail Franks. 


Mr. Huelskamp graduated from Holy Angels High School.  He retired from the Piqua Fire Department as an Assistant Chief following twenty-five years of service, and owned Huelskamp Construction until 2001.  He was a United States Marine Corp veteran having served during Vietnam.  He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, the Archbishop McNicholas Council of the Knights of Columbus #3344, Piqua Fish & Game Club, and a life member of the V. F. W. Post #4874.  He enjoyed his family and was a wood craftsman. 


A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am Wednesday April 28, 2010 at St. Boniface Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Angelo C. Caserta as the Celebrant.  Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery where full military honors will be provided by the Veterans Elite Tribute Squad.  Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 pm Tuesday at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home where a prayer service will be conducted at 4:00 pm. and a Knights of Columbus service at 7:00 pm.  Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2808 Reading Rd., Cincinnati, OH 45206, Piqua Ambulance Fund, P. RICHARD L. KLOHE 


Richard L. “Dick” Klohe, 59, of 1223 Apple Blossom Lane, Sidney, died at 3:15 a.m. Friday, April 23, 2010, at Kettering-Sycamore Medical Center, Miamisburg.  He was born January 15, 1951, in Piqua, to the late Louis O. and Doris M. (Clevenger) Klohe.  He married Antoinette C. Young on May 27, 1977 in Pasco; she survives. 


Mr. Klohe is also survived by six children, Ron Swartz of San Antonio, Texas, Jason Klohe of Waco, Texas, Suzette Klohe of Columbus, Bridgette Klohe of Sidney, Wendy Bardnell and Tony Funderburg; four grandchildren; two sisters, Susanne Pummill of Piqua, Connie Coppock of Piqua; a brother, Patrick (Kathy) Klohe of Fletcher; and numerous nieces and nephews. 


Dick was a 1969 graduate of Piqua Central High School and was a member of the Salvation Army Church of Piqua.  He had worked for Ross Aluminum and Ferguson Construction, both of Sidney.  He enjoyed fishing and playing the organ. 


A memorial service to celebrate his life will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 29, at the Salvation Army Church, Piqua, with Major Robert Klenk officiating.  Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Thursday at the church.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, 129 S. REV. W. WARREN SHOEMAKER 


Rev. W. Warren Shoemaker, 86, formerly of 317 Second St., Piqua, more recently of the Brethren Retirement Community, Greenville, went to be with his Lord and Savior at 4:55 pm Sunday April 18, 2010.  He was born December 1, 1923 in Stark County to the late Wilbur D. and Verna P. (Stoner) Shoemaker.  He married Dorothy “Dottie” Faith Essick June 9, 1946 in Harrisburg, Pa., a loving marriage that spanned over sixty-three years. 


Other survivors include a daughter Kitty Hope (Raymond) Knotts of Peoria, Ill.; two sons, Wayne (Linda) Shoemaker of Garland, Texas, Timothy (Elinor) Shoemaker of Ansonia; seven grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and a sister Betty (Robert) Albright of North Canton.  He was preceded in death by a sister, Lois Snyder, and his first wife, Irene M. (Minnich) Shoemaker and their son who both died January 17, 1945 from complications in premature childbirth. 


Warren was a 1945 graduate of Manchester College in Manchester, Ind., and obtained his Degree in Theology from the Bethany Theological Seminary of Chicago.  He devoted his life to the ministry serving churches including the Prices Creek Church of the Brethren, and Piqua Church of the Brethren where he served as Pastor for fifteen years until his retirement in 1990.  While in Piqua he was active with the Hospital Chaplaincy Council, served as Chairman of the Board of the Rehabilitation Center for Neurological Development in Piqua, and a Trustee and Board member of the Brethren Retirement Community in Greenville.  He was a member and past president of the former Piqua Ministerial Association, and instrumental in the formation of Young Life in Piqua, the Piqua Chapter of the Council of Churches which evolved to the current Piqua Association of Churches, and the Piqua Prayer Breakfast.  He served as Grand Marshall of the Piqua Crop Walk, volunteered with the Piquarea United Fund, Habitat for Humanity, and Meals on Wheels program.  He was an avid gardener, and enjoyed cooking and sports.  


A celebration of his life and ministry will begin at 10:00 am Friday, April 23, 2010 at Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home with Timothy Shoemaker officiating.  Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 pm Thursday at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Piqua Church of the Brethren, 525 Boal Ave., Piqua, OH 45356, Miami-Shelby Young Life, 325 W. LEONARD L. JONES 


Leonard L. Jones, 87, of 8150 N. Looney Rd., Piqua, died Sunday, April 11, 2010 at his residence.  He was born February 22, 1923 in Purlear, N.C. to the late Robert L. and Bessie (Church) Jones.  He married Betty J. Busse July 27, 1945 in Corpus Christi, Texas; she preceded him in death December 4, 1991. 


Survivors include a son, Robert L. (Joanne) Jones of Beavercreek; four grandchildren, Jennifer Jones, Katie (Nicholas) Madigan, Julie Jones, Samuel Jones; four great grandchildren, Elizabeth, Joseph, Stephen, Nolan; and a brother, William (Lucille) Jones of N. Wilkesboro, N.C.  He was preceded in death by a brother, Maurice Jones, and two twin infant sons. 


Mr. Jones graduated from Yadkin Valley High School, N.C. and worked at the former Piqua Wheel Alignment Company, then worked for twenty three years with Allstate Insurance Company as an Adjuster and Supervisor until his retirement.  He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, the Ft. Loramie American Legion Post, the St. George Commandery of the Knights of St. John, and a faithful volunteer for its Bingo program.  He served on the Advisory Board of the Upper Valley Joint Vocational School, and had coached Little League Baseball for many years.  He enjoyed fishing, gardening, the outdoors and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. 


A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am Thursday, April 22, 2010 at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Martin Fox as the Celebrant.  Burial will follow at St. Michael’s Cemetery, Ft. FERN C. MARKLEY 


Fern C. Markley, 94 of 639 Clark Ave., Piqua, died at 1:55 pm Thursday April 15, 2010 at her residence. She was born May 2, 1915 in Urbana to the late Luther E. and Goldie (Applegate) Brown.

She married Robert C. Markley July 11, 1936 in Dayton; he preceded her in death on July 3, 1953.  


Survivors include a son Robert Markley of Piqua; four daughters, Sally (Ben) Murphey of Troy, Betty (Cliff) Wells, Katie Chambers, and Patty Markley all of Piqua; eight grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; two great great grandchild; and a brother, Kenneth Brown of California.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, one sister, and two grandchildren.  


Mrs. Markley was a member of the Lockington United Methodist Church, and its Footprints on the Heart Support Group at the church. A graduate of Roosevelt High School class of 1934 in Dayton, she worked at the former Murphy’s department store as a clerk, the BVD Underwear Co., the Atlas Underwear Co., and Piqua Memorial Hospital in the Dietary Department for seventeen years, retiring in 1986.  She enjoyed her family and gardening. 


A funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 am Monday April 19, 2010 at Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home with the James F. Wheeler officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00-4:00 pm Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Miami County, Inc., P. O. CHARLES MADDOX 


Charles Maddox, 92, of 1616 New Haven, Piqua, died at 9:40 pm Thursday, April 8, 2010 at the Piqua Manor Nursing Home.  He was born June 17, 1917 in West Point, Georgia to the late Floyd and Georgia (Houston) Maddox.  He married June M. Clay in 1965; she preceded him in death January 28, 2002. 


Survivors include a son, Fred L. Hall of Piqua; a daughter, Charlyne Randolf of Detroit, Mich.; grandchildren, Charles E. Hall, Frederick Lee Hall, William Curtis Hall, Verlissa Davis; and a brother, John Maddox of Detroit, Mich.  He was preceded in death by a sister. 


Mr. Maddox retired as a meat packer from the former Val Decker Meat Processing Plant.  He was a member of the Second Baptist Church. 


A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 pm Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home with Rev. Brian T. Craig E. Black, 46, of 308 Linden Ave., Piqua, died at 7:00 pm Thursday April 1, 2010 in Dayton.  He was born March 18, 1964 in Piqua to Dorothy J. (Tatman) Black of Piqua and the late John O. Black, Jr. 


Other survivors include two brothers, Mark (Mary) Black of Piqua, Ron (Rhonda) Black of Sidney; two sisters, Brenda (Lee) Wynn of West Alexandria, Sheri (Dale) Tobe of Piqua; several nieces, nephews and other family members.  


Craig graduated from Lehman Catholic High School in 1982, and worked as a Telemarketer with the automobile industry.  He was a United States Army veteran and enjoyed playing and watching sports.

JOHN F. SOTERIOU 


John F. Soteriou, 89, of 10690 N. Fairview Rd., Piqua, died at 12:05 pm Thursday, April 1, 2010 in Piqua.  He was born March 23, 1921 in Paterson, New Jersey to the late Constantine and Mary D. (McAfee) Soteriou.  He married Lorraine Wilkinson March 9, 1946 in Chicago, Illinois; she preceded him in death May 28, 1992. 


Survivors include three sons, John (Nancy Ellen) Soteriou of Austin, Texas, James (Susan) Soteriou of Berrien Springs, Mich., Robert (Kimberly) Soteriou of Anna; five daughters, Dorothy (Stan) Gaberlavage of Irvine, Calif., Eileen Barricklow of Stevensville, Mich., Lorraine Soteriou of Safety Harbor, Fla., Ann Dailey of Stevensville, Mich., Mary (Mark) Stewart of Piqua; nine grandchildren; eight great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Soteriou. 


Mr. Soteriou served his country in the Army Air Corp during World War II, and retired from the former Medalist Allen-A Company.  He was an active member of St. Mary Catholic Church where he served as an Usher for many years, the Piqua Knights of Columbus Archbishop McNicholas Council #3344, and the Fourth Degree Archbishop Karl J. Alter Assembly #1776.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and upon retirement loved traveling with his wife to visit the children and grandchildren.  


A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Thomas J. Grilliot as the Celebrant.  Burial will follow at Miami Memorial Park, Covington.  Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 pm Monday at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home, where a prayer service will be conducted at 4:45 pm and a Knights of Columbus service at 7:00 pm.  Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church, 528 Broadway, Piqua, OH 45356 or Hospice of Miami County, Inc., P.
