Downing St., Piqua, died at 3:45 pm Saturday December 11, 2010 at the Upper Valley Medical Center. She was born August 26, 1923 in Shelby County to the late Clement and Frances (Siegel) Puthoff. She married James A. &ldquo;Gus&rdquo; Mason July 23, 1949 in Maria Stein; he preceded her in death December 28, 1988.<br /><span></span><br />Survivor include two sons, James A. (Shirley) Mason of Pleasant Valley, Connecticut, Brett Mason of Piqua; two daughters, Bonnie M. Mason and Annette (Larry) Steinke all of Piqua; and a granddaughter, Brooke E. Mason. She was preceded in death by five brothers.<br /><span></span><br />Mrs. Mason was a homemaker and a member of St. Mary Catholic Church.<br />A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am Thursday December 16, 2010 at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Swarts, 77, of 1412 Washington Ave., Piqua, died at 3:00 a, Sunday December 19, 2010<br />in Columbus. He was born July 22, 1933 in Piqua to the late Elery D. and Evelyn L. (Lovett) Swarts.<br />On August 4, 1962 in St. Mary Catholic Church he was married to the late Eleanor L. (Dembski)<br />Swarts his loving wife of forty-two years. She preceded him in death March 20, 2005.<br />He is survived by the pride and joy of his life, his four children and their spouses, Anita (Jeffery)<br />Zehala of Columbus, Janet (Barry) Burton of Antioch, Illinois, Kurt (Joan) Swarts of Delaware,<br />Nathaniel &ldquo;Ned&rdquo; (Lori) Swarts of Mooresville, North Carolina. Also surviving are eight grandchildren,<br />Michael, Christopher and Jena Burton, Elizabeth and Matthew Zehala, Patrick, Mallory and Ryan<br />Swarts; three brothers, David (Barbara) Swarts, Elery (Sue) Swarts, Anthony (Charlotte) Swarts all<br />of Piqua; three sisters, Barbara (Michael) Byrum of Santa Anna, California, Richardia (Sherry) Smith<br />of Piqua, Rebecca (Carl) Guzman of Mission Viejo, Calif.; and thirteen nieces and nephews. A sister<br />Phyllis Jean Folkerth preceded him in death.<br />Jimmie graduated from Piqua Central High School in 1951 and attended Ohio University. He retired<br />from the French Oil Mill Machinery Company in 1996 following thirty-seven years of employment.<br />He served in the United States Navy from 1951 to 1955 and was honorably discharged with the rank<br />of Machinist Mate 1st class. He was a fifteen-year member if the Signal Five Auxiliary Police where<br />he had served in all of its offices. He served on the Civic Citation Appeals Board, the Piqua Board<br />of Zoning Appeals for twenty-three years and was its Chairman for several terms. In partnership<br />with his wife, Eleanor, they were active in St. Mary Catholic Church having served on many Parish<br />Committees including the Parish Council and Worship Committee and they chaired several church<br />events.<br />A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at St.<br />Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Thomas J. Grilliot as the Celebrant. Burial will follow at Forest Hill<br />Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 pm Tuesday at the funeral home where a prayer service<br />will begin at 4:00 pm and a Knights of Columbus service at 6:30 pm. Fogt, 69, of 600 Caldwell St., Piqua, died at 5:20 pm Monday November 15, 2010 at the<br />Upper Valley Medical Center. He was born July 29, 1941 in Piqua to the late Russell Manning and<br />Louise (Hudson) Fogt. He married Judith A. Norris January 19, 1963 at St. Mary Church in Piqua;<br />and she survives.<br />Other survivors include a daughter Stephanie (Craig) D&rsquo;Epifanio of Fairfield; a son James (Elizabeth)<br />Fogt of St. Louis, Missouri; five grandchildren, Anthony, Victoria, Tara, and Jenna D&rsquo;Epifanio and<br />Emma Fogt; and a sister Janalee Ritzhaupt. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Vincenzo<br />David D&rsquo;Epifanio.<br />Mr. Fogt was a graduate of Piqua Central High School and attended the Ohio State University. He<br />possessed a long award-winning career as a professional photographer including a position as<br />Chief Photographer for the Piqua Daily Call Newspaper for over twenty-nine years retiring in the mid<br />1990&rsquo;s. His work was honored numerous times and chosen to appear in many publications including<br />Life Magazine. He was an active member of St. Mary Catholic Church where he served as a<br />Eucharistic Minister, festival worker, RCIA sponsor and volunteer for many activities. His enjoyment<br />of history prompted his involvement with the Miami County Historical and Genealogical Society and<br />his curiosity of electronics was evidenced by his membership with the Piqua Amateur Radio Club.<br />Additionally, he enjoyed gardening, restoring his beautiful Victorian home and traveling with his wife,<br />Judith, including their annual trips to Florida. Among his many loves, his family was most important.<br />A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am Friday November 19, 2010 at St. Mary<br />Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Thomas J. Grilliot as the Celebrant. Burial will follow at Forest Hill<br />Cemetery. She was born January 23, 1922 in Piqua to the late Clarence C. and E. Marie (Morrow) Campbell. She married Lester J. Vetter January 26, 1943 in Piqua. He preceded her in death October 5, 2001. Survivors include two sons, James (Brenda) Vetter, John (Linda) Vetter all of Piqua; a daughter Vicki (Timothy) Reed of Piqua; six grandchildren, Joshua Vetter, Emily (Brian) Brookhart, Rachel (Nate)<br />Funderburg, Bethany (Curt) Shondell, Jennifer Vetter, Jon Vetter; and four great grandchildren, Evan Brookhart, Abby Brookhart, Marin Funderburg, Dane Funderburg. She was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law Wanda (Clarence) Cron.<br /><span></span><br />Mrs. Vetter was a 1939 graduate of Piqua Central High School. She was a homemaker and helped her husband as a bookkeeper for the Vetter Electric Service. She was an active member of the Congregational Christian United Church of Christ for over eighty years, having served as a Deaconess, Sunday School Teacher, Youth Fellowship Advisor, Lantern Circle, and Choir member.<br />She was a volunteer for Favorite Hill School, Piqua Red Cross Crisis Committee, Piqua Arts Council,<br />Piqua Memorial Hospital as a Book Cart Lady, Gray Lady, charter member of the former Chaplains<br />Assistance Program, and served as a Hostess for the Piqua Civic Band concerts. She and her<br />husband served as the Heritage Festival Queen and King in 1989, and they enjoyed being active with<br />the Piqua Square Dance Club.<br /><span></span><br />A celebration of her life will begin at 10:00 am Friday November 12, 2010 at the Jamieson &amp; Yannucci<br />Funeral Home with Rev. Gastineau, 66 formerly of Piqua,  more recently of Marysville, died at 12:56 pm Tuesday, August 10, 2010  in Riverside Hospital, Columbus.&nbsp; She was born July 7, 1944 in  Springfield to the late Hugh A. and Dorothy J. (Cleveland) Schneider.</font>&nbsp;<br /> <br /><br /> <font size="3">Survivors include two daughters, Karen  (Rex) Stapleton of Urbana, Katie (Bryan) Magoteaux of Beavercreek; a  son Andrew M. Gastineau of Marysville; seven grandchildren, Courtney,  Jake, Jenna, Katelyn, Tyler, Adam, Alexa; and two sisters, Leah S. Ward  of Piqua, and Ann S. Dodds of Urbana.</font>&nbsp;<br /><br /><br /> <font size="3">Mrs. Gastineau graduated Urbana High  School in 1962, obtained a B.S. degree in Business Administration June  6, 1966 from Wittenberg University, and furthered her education at Urbana  University where she earned her Teaching Certificate.&nbsp; She began  what would be a teaching career spanning over three decades with the  Urbana School District before being hired by the Piqua City School District  for the 1972-1973 school year.&nbsp; She taught second, fourth and fifth  grade students at Favorite Hill, Washington, and High St. Schools before  her retirement in July of 2005.&nbsp; Following retirement she worked  at the Dublin Coldwater Creek Store where she was currently an assistant  manager.&nbsp; She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother.&nbsp;  She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, reading, knitting  and making crafts.</font>&nbsp;<br /><br /><br /> <font size="3">A celebration of her life will begin  at 10:00 am Saturday, August 14, 2010 at the Jamieson &amp; Yannucci  Funeral Home.&nbsp; Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 pm Friday at the  funeral home.&nbsp; Memorial contributions may be made to the Piqua  Education Foundation, 719 E. FADELY</strong></font>&nbsp;<br /> <br /><br /> <font size="4">Lillian G. Fadely, 96, formerly of 209  Upway Dr., Piqua, died at 7:40 a.m. Saturday, August 7, 2010, at Piqua  Manor.&nbsp; She was born August 21, 1913, in Lawrence County, to the  late Junie H. and Vella (Mallaby) George.&nbsp; She married Laurence  A. Fadely on August 29, 1931; he preceded her in death on December 5,  1974.</font>&nbsp;<br /><br /><br /> <font size="4">Mrs. Fadely is survived by a daughter,  Barbara (Fritz) LeFever of Piqua; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren;  and four great-great-grandchildren.&nbsp; She was preceded in death  by two brothers, Daryl and William George; and a sister, Margaret Coe.</font>&nbsp;<br /> <br /><br /> <font size="4">Lillian was a 1931 graduate of Union  Rural High School in Milford Center and retired from the former J.W.  Brown Co./Uhlman&rsquo;s of Piqua.&nbsp; She was a member of the Piqua Leisure  Club and enjoyed traveling.&nbsp; Lillian was a caring, occasionally  stubborn soul whose main concern was always for her family and their  well being.&nbsp; She had a full, interesting life, and will be greatly  missed by all who knew her.</font>&nbsp;<br /><br /><br /> <font size="4">A memorial service to celebrate her life  will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, August 11, at the Jamieson &amp;  Yannucci Funeral Home with Rev. WILLIAMSON</strong></font>&nbsp;<br /> <br /><br /> &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<font size="4">John  A. Williamson, 84, of Hillsboro and formerly of Piqua, died at 2:00  pm Monday, July 12, 2010 at the Drake Center of Cincinnati due to pneumonia.&nbsp;  His wife, Mary Kathryn (Kruse) Williamson whom he married November 18,  1947 in Rome; preceded him in death July 16, 1984.</font>&nbsp;<br /> <br /><br /> &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<font size="4">He  was born on Sept. 20, 1925 in Piqua to John Furrow Williamson and Elsie  May (Barbee) Williamson.&nbsp; As a young boy during the Great Depression,  he was called &ldquo;Bud&rdquo; and he had many fond memories of summers at  Camp Wakonda.</font>&nbsp;<br /><br /><br /> &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<font size="4">He  enlisted in the Army Air Corps in April 1943 and then graduated from  Piqua Central High School in June 1943.</font>&nbsp;<br /><br /><br /> &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<font size="4">John  was a Second World War veteran honorably serving in the South Pacific  from 1944 to 1945 with the 5th Air Force, 90th  Bombardment (Heavy) Group, &ldquo;The Jolly Rogers&rdquo;, 321st  Squadron.&nbsp; He was a gunner aboard a B-24 Liberator and flew combat  missions to Formosa, Luzon, Lingayen Gulf, Borneo and Corregidor.&nbsp;  He later served in the Army Reserves and retired as a Major in the Ohio  National Guard.</font>&nbsp;<br /><br /><br /> &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<font size="4">Following  the War, John completed his BA at Ohio State University in 1949 and  earned his Masters Degree from Miami University, Oxford in 1964.</font>&nbsp;<br /> <br /><br /> &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<font size="4">He  was an educator all his life beginning as a teacher at Springcreek School  in Piqua, then as school psychologist for Troy City Schools and retiring  as psychologist supervisor for the Hopewell Special Education Regional  Resource Center in Hillsboro.&nbsp; He then worked ten years at the  Southern Ohio Correctional Facility, Chillicothe, as the Director of  Psychology Services.</font>&nbsp;<br /><br /><br /> &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<font size="4">Years  ago, John refereed high school football and basketball games in the  Miami Valley area. </font>&nbsp;<br /><br /><br /> &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<font size="4">John  had many kind and dear friends in the Hillsboro area and spent enjoyable  days at the Highland County Senior Center where he loved to sing in  the choir and play bridge.&nbsp; He volunteered and served on several  community boards in Hillsboro.</font>&nbsp;<br /><br /><br /> &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<font size="4">He  was content and happy in his home in Ohio reading history, poetry and  playing Bach on the piano.&nbsp; The &ldquo;Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam&rdquo;  was a favorite poem of his and he often recited verses from it.</font>&nbsp;<br /> <br /><br /> &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<font size="4">In  addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two older sisters,  Barbara Jean Williamson Barron and Mary Isabelle Williamson Rudolph.</font>&nbsp;<br /> <br /><br /> &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<font size="4">He  is the loving father of three daughters and one son; Susan (Phil) Shumway  of Phoenix, Arizona, Roxanne (Jay Sprinkel) Williamson of Sarasota,  Florida, Kathryn (James) Burkhamer of Columbus, Ohio and Paul (Susan)  Williamson of Loveland, Colorado.</font>&nbsp;<br /><br /><br /> &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<font size="4">He  is also the beloved grandfather of Sam Williamson and Ben Williamson  of Loveland, Colorado, John William Burkhamer of Columbus, Ohio, Geoffrey  (Brandee) Shumway and newly born great-granddaughter, Alexis Kay Shumway  of Phoenix, Arizona, and Jonathan Shumway of Costa Mesa, California.</font>&nbsp;<br /> <br /><br /> &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<font size="4">A  funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 pm Saturday, July 17, 2010  at the Jamieson &amp; Yannucci Funeral Home with Pastor Eric Sipe officiating.&nbsp;  Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery where full military honors  will be provided by the Veterans Elite Tribute Squad.&nbsp; Visitation  will be from 6:00-8:00 pm Friday at the funeral home.&nbsp; Condolences  to the family may also be expressed through </font><a href="http://www.jamiesonandyannucci.com/" target="_blank"><font color="#0000ff" size="4"><u>www.jamiesonandyannucci.com</u></font></a><font size="4">.</font> <br /></div><hr  style=" visibility: hidden; clear: both; width: 100%; "></hr>]]></content:encoded></item></channel></rss>
