 WALTER M. BANKS Walter M. Banks, 92, of 600 Westview Dr., Piqua, died at 3:15 a.m. Tuesday, February 23, 2010, at his residence. He was born March 5, 1917, in Darke County, to the late Charles C. and Ida (Heins) Banks. He married Dorothy M. Sanders on January 19, 1941 in Greenville; she survives. Mr. Banks is also survived by a son, Gary (Dixie) Banks of Piqua; two grandchildren, Julie (Jim) Brown and Thomas (Carol) Banks; two step-grandchildren, Mike (Barbara) Hickey, and Mark Hickey; and seven great-grandchildren. Walter worked four years as a liaison engineer for Lear, Inc. prior to serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Upon returning home, he began his career working for the Dunson Auto Supply Company of Piqua, retiring as store manager. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and enjoyed cars. A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, March 1, at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home with Rev. Ronald Shreffler officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Versailles. Visitation will be from 12-1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church, 248 Wood St., Piqua, OH 45356.
