 WILLIAM R. “RUSS” JOHNSTON William R. “Russ” Johnston, 87, of 914 Clark Ave., Piqua, died at 7:10 am Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at Piqua Manor Nursing Home. He was born January 31, 1923 in Detroit Michigan to the late George and Thelma (Crummel) Johnston. Survivors include a son, Stanley Johnston of Piqua; one brother, Donald Kiser of Evansville, Ind.; and two sisters, Juanita (Cecil) Hager of Piqua, and Carolyn (Robert) Houser of Troy. He was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters. Mr. Johnston retired as a painter from the F. C. Skinner Painting Company. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Lodge #614. A funeral service will be conducted at 10:30 am Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home with Major Robert Klenk officiating. Burial will follow at the Dayton National VA Cemetery where full military honors will be provided by the Veterans Elite Tribute Squad. Visitation will be from 9:30-10:30 am Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Piqua Salvation Army Corp., 129 S. Wayne St., Piqua, OH 45356.
