Kevin DeWine, Chairman of the Ohio Republican Party spoke at the March 3, 2010 Tipp City Rotary meeting. Kevin discussed the current political climate in Ohio, the slate of candidates running for statewide seats in the fall of 2010, and the roles of the Party Chairman and Central Committee. Brandy McFall from Ronald McDonalds House Charities (RHMC) of the Miami Valley Region, Inc. spoke at the Tipp City Rotary Club on February 14, 2010. Mrs. McFall addressed discussed the ongoing mission of RHMC to provides a temporary home-away-from-home for families of critically ill, hospitalized children and supports efforts that improve children's health within our region. The RHMC of the Miami Valley Area of service reaches as far north as Lima, Ohio, as far west as Springfield, Ohio, as far South as Lebanon, Ohio and as far east as Richmond, Indiana. In 2009, they served 516 families totaling 3,930 nights of occupancy; this includes 990 adults and 219 siblings of hospitalized children. The average stay for House guests was 7 to 9 nights. Guest families of the Ronald McDonald House may either occupy a guest room for an overnight stay or visit the Ronald McDonald House per our Day Use Program. There is no fee for overnight stays or day guests. The cost associated with guest use is approximately $100 per night of stay, or approximately $30 for a day visit. This is a cooperative effort between Troy Main Street, the City of Troy, and Troy Community Works. 6. Other Anthony Day joined the Tipp City Rotary Club on February 10, 2010. Anthony is an Associate in the law firm of Lovett & Lovett (www.lovettlawoffice.com), and has recently moved to Tipp City. The Tipp City Rotary Club meets each Wednesday at noon in the basement of the Monroe Township Building in historic downtown Tipp City. Additionally, Mike McDermott from Bash Foo Social Media spoke at the Tipp City Rotary Club meeting on February 10, 2010. Mike shared how useful social media tools are in building communities of people interested in a product or service and then how a business owner could then tap into that energy and discussion. Mike also provided examples of how businesses that do use social media tools to listen to and engage in online conversations can increase their relevance and grow leads into sales. “Facebook.com is the number one destination on the Internet, if you are not using it to market your business, you may be missing out” stated McDermott. Tipp City Rotary President-Elect Mark Mabelitini gave a demonstration of the new Rotary Club website www.tippcityrotary.org at the February 3, 2010 meeting. Using the website the Rotarians can send emails to the entire club, view a calendar of events, check to see who will be speaking at their meetings, plus a whole lot more. The Tipp City Rotary Club meets each Wednesday, noon in the basement of the Monroe Township building. Yvonne Lemming from Studio des Parfums spoke at the Tipp City Rotary Club meeting on January 27, 2010. Yvonne discussed the history of perfume, the history of France as it relates to perfume, and her experience about learning to create custom perfumes. She talked about the different types of perfume and how best to buy and wear perfume.
